Frequently asked

Common questions about insulation.

What is insulation and how does it work?+
Insulation works by reducing the rate at which heat flows into or out of your home, helping to maintain a more consistent indoor temperature throughout the year. Bulk insulation traps still air pockets to reduce heat flow. Proper installation without gaps or compression is essential for optimal performance.
Where should I insulate?+
To get the most benefit from insulation, you should insulate the ceiling, walls and underfloor — these are the main areas where heat is lost or gained. Ceiling insulation is particularly important, and retrofits can enhance efficiency without major disruption.
What are R-values?+
R-values measure the effectiveness of insulation in resisting heat flow. The higher the R-value, the better the material's ability to prevent heat from passing through. Selection depends on climate, area being insulated and energy efficiency goals.
How long will the installation take?+
Installation can take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days depending on home size, insulation type, and whether it's new construction or retrofit work. Specific timelines require professional assessment.
Could I install it myself?+
DIY installation is possible but labour-intensive and challenging without experience. Poor installation can reduce the effectiveness of the insulation, while professional installation ensures optimal performance.
